Compassion is a Relationship Between Equals

August 28, 2013  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.

The Honeymoon That Never Ends

January 2, 2013  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

Love is not a relationship. Love relates, but it is not a relationship. Relationship means something complete, finished, closed. Love is never a relationship; love is relating. It is always a river, flowing, unending. Love knows no full point; the honeymoon begins but never ends.

If We Believe, People Will Follow

August 16, 2011  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

If we believe, people will follow us. Everyday I see the dream, I see the vision. I still have a lot of things to give. That is why i am still here.

Learn to Be Quiet

May 7, 2011  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait, just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

— Franz Kafka

Do It Anyway

October 16, 2010  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

The Truth Needs To Be Experienced

October 11, 2010  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

It’s our story!

Then how can we know the truth?  The truth needs to be experienced.  Humans have the need to describe it.  Whoever claims, “This is the truth,” is lying without even knowing it.  We can perceive truth with our feelings, but as soon as we try to describe it with the words, we distort it, and it’s no longer the truth.  It’s our story!  It’s a projection based on reality that is only true for us, but still we try to put our experience into words, and this is something wonderful, really.  It’s the greatest art of every human.

What you express may not be exactly what you perceive, but it is close enough to remind you of what you perceive.

All humans create their story with their own unique point of view.  Why try to impose your story on other people when for them your story is not true?  When you understand that, you no longer have the need to defend what you believe.  It’s not important to be right or to make others wrong.  Instead, you see everybody as an artist, a story teller.  You know that whatever they believe is just their point of view.   It has nothing to do with you.

What You Are Not

October 4, 2010  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

It’s a story, but it’s not the truth.

Everything you’ve learned, everything you know about life, is only knowledge.  How can you know if what you’ve learned is the truth or not?  How can you know if what you believe about yourself is the truth?

The truth is that you have no idea what you really are, but you know what you are not.  You have been practicing what you are not for so long, that you really believe your image is what you are.  Your faith is invested in all those lies you believe about yourself.  It’s a story, but it’s not the truth.

What makes you powerful is your faith.  Faith is the power of creation that all humans have, and it doesn’t have anything to do with religion.  Faith is the result of an agreement.  When you agree to believe in something without a doubt, you invest your faith.  If you have no doubt about what you believe, then for you it is truth, even though it may really be a lie.  Your faith is so powerful that if you believe you are not good enough, you are not good enough!  If you believe you will fail, you will fail, because that is the power and magic of your faith.  You suffer because you believe lies.  It’s that simple.  Humanity is the way it is because collectively we believe so many lies.  Humans have carried the lies for thousands of years, and we react to the lies with hate, with anger, with violence.  But they’re only lies.

Our Deepest Fear

September 12, 2010  |  Truths  |  Comments Off

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

-Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

Give More Deeply

Connect to Love

We don’t do yoga to get love. We do yoga to connect to who we really are: LOVE so we can give more deeply to the world.
